Today’s “Word of the Day” is notoriety and it is a noun meaning “the state of being well-known for something bad; bad reputation, bad name, infamy, disrepute, ill repute, ill fame”.

Example Sentence: Judicial primacy and the collegium’s creation happened in this period (between 1971 and 1993), and while the collegium has since acquired considerable notoriety for being arbitrary and undemocratic, it still occupies the field today. (The Supreme Court collegium is a five-member body, which is headed by the incumbent Chief Justice of India (CJI) and comprises the four other seniormost judges of the court at that time, to recommend appointments & transfers of judges.
