Word of the Day (microaggression)-30SEP21

Today’s “Word of the Day” is microaggression and it is a noun meaning “the everyday verbal, nonverbal slights, insults, indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that convey hostile, derogatory or negative messages toward a member of a marginalized group (such as a racial or ethnic minority)”.

Example Sentence: Aside from (apart from) reducing the risk of being exposed to Covid-19, remote work gives employees far more flexibility during their work day, a fact that has proven to have no bearing on their productivity. In fact, research has found that productivity is often higher when employees are permitted to work from home… For Black women, staying at home has meant a reprieve (break) from some of the microaggressions that they would typically face in an in-person work environment.
