  1. reflect (verb) –  indicate, show, display, demonstrate, reveal, disclose, be evidence of.
  2. engage with (verb) – to establish a meaningful relationship with someone; to become involved in or participate in something.
  3. The Global South (noun) – the poor developing countries (of Asia, Africa, South America, amongst others).
  4. The Global North (noun) – the economically developed countries (of Europe, North America, Australia, amongst others).
  5. ongoing (adjective) – current, existing, continuing.
  6. BRICS countries (plural noun) – the acronym coined to associate five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The BRICS members are known for their significant influence on regional affairs. On 1 January 2024, BRICS admitted four new members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia has joined Brics, the alliance of major developing countries, along with four other nations.
  7. summit (noun) – meeting, conference, conclave (international meeting/conference of heads of state/government).
  8. back-to-back (adjective) – consecutive, successive, continuous.
  9. bilateral (adjective) – involving two groups or countries.
  10. view (noun) – point of view, viewpoint, idea, opinion, thinking.
  11. enhance (verb) – increase, improve, upgrade, augment, strengthen.
  12. field (noun) – arena, domain, realm, sphere, territory, area; an area/field of activity.
  13. theme (noun) – concept, idea, concern.
  14. pharmaceutical (adjective) – relating to the aspects like preparation, dispensing, and effective utilization of medicinal drugs.
  15. vaccine (noun) – a biological preparation that improves immunity to a particular disease.
  16. food security (noun) – food security is a situation that exists when all people, at all times, have physical,  social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
  17. critical minerals (noun) – critical minerals are non-fuel minerals or mineral materials essential to the economic or national security of a country and which have a supply chain vulnerable to disruption. Critical minerals are also characterized as serving an essential function in the manufacturing of a product, the absence of which would have significant consequences for the economy or national security. Examples of critical minerals include lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, rare earth elements, graphite, and certain platinum group metals (PGMs).

  20. hub (noun) – centre of activity/region/network; focal point.
  21. memorandum of understanding (MoU) (noun) – a formal (written) agreement between two (bilateral) or more (multilateral) parties outlined in a formal document.
  22. pharmacopoeia (noun) – drug book (published by a government); it is an official collection of approved pharmaceutical standards. In addressing anyone who produces, distributes or controls medicinal products it comprises requirements on the quality of medicinal products and of the substances used to manufacture them.
  23. affordable (adjective) – inexpensive, economical, moderate, reasonable.
  24. generic (adjective) – (in medicine) unbranded, untrademarked, non-proprietary.
  25. vast (adjective) – huge, substantial, massive.
  26. reserves (noun) – stock, reservoir.
  27. shale gas (noun) – natural gas which is trapped underground in a fine-grained sedimentary rock (shale).
  28. pitch (verb) – to talk in a way while attempting to convince someone to buy or accept something.
  29. onward (adjective) – (of a journey) continuing or moving forward.
  30. highlight (verb) – underscore, emphasize, underline, stress, call/draw attention to.
  31. commitment (noun) – dedication, engagement, obligation, responsibility, onus, liability, accountability.
  32. mechanism (noun) – method, system, process, procedure, technique.
  33. promotion (noun) – advancement, furtherance, development, recommendation, advocacy, endorsement.
  34. Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) (noun) – it is the major global initiative launched by the Government of India and it is dedicated to enhancing the resilience of infrastructure systems to climate and disaster risks. It includes national governments, international organizations, and private sector. Members benefit from access to global expertise, funding, technical support, research opportunities, innovative solutions, and international best practices.
  35. signature (adjective) – distinctively associated/connected with someone or something.
  36. pitch (noun) – a way of talking when attempting to convince someone to buy or accept something.
  37. diaspora (noun) – the people who spread/scatter from their own country to places across the world. Indian diaspora constitutes NRIs (Non-resident Indians) and PIOs (Persons of Indian origins).
  38. venture (noun) – project, undertaking, endeavour, task, activity
  39. note (verb) – take notice of, consider, bear in mind, pay attention to.
  40. ancestry (noun) – descent, origin, succession, parentage, lineage, heredity.
  41. in terms of (phrase) – with regard to; concerning, regarding; in connection with.
  42. Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) (noun) – the NAM was set up (in 1961) after the World War 2 with an aim to “create an independent path in world politics that would not result in member States becoming pawns in the struggles between the major power blocs (Western/Capitalist bloc aligned with the USA or Eastern/Soviet bloc aligned with the former Soviet Union).
  43. South-South Cooperation (noun) – South-South cooperation is a manifestation (display) of solidarity among peoples and countries of the Global South that contributes to their national well-being, their national and collective self-reliance and the attainment of internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
  44. found (verb) – start, begin, initiate, establish, set up.
  45. BRIC (noun) – The BRIC grouping was initially formed in 2006 with the aim of coordinating economic and political efforts among Brazil, Russia, India, and China. The acronym “BRIC” refers to the initial group of countries (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) that formed the economic bloc before South Africa joined in 2010, changing the name to BRICS.
  46. IBSA (noun) – a unique Forum which brings together India, Brazil and South Africa, three
    large democracies and major economies from three different continents, facing similar
    challenges. All three countries are developing, pluralistic, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic,
    multi-lingual and multi-religious nations. 
  47. outcome (noun) – end result, conclusion, consequence, aftermath.
  48. interest (noun) – common concerns (in politics/business).
  49. anti-West (adjective) – against the Western world.
  50. the West (noun) – The Western world/civilization consisting of the majority of Europe & the North America.
  51. difference (noun) – disagreement, difference of opinion, misunderstanding, dispute, quarrel, wrangle.
  52. conflict (noun) – war, warfare, armed conflict, military action, armed clash.
  53. consequently (adverb) – accordingly, as a result of, in view of, therefore, on this/that account, because of this/that. 
  54. itinerary (noun) – a planned  journey/route, way, path.
  55. look beyond (phrase) – to look forward to a time in the future after some situation.
  56. world/international/global order (noun) – the arrangement of power and authority that provides the system for the conduct of diplomacy and world politics in relation to the entire world.
