Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is a square peg in a round hole and it is a phrase meaning “something/someone that does not fit into a particular situation/position; unfit, unsuitable, unacceptable thing/person”.
Example Sentence: The cooperative sector has always been in the domain of the States or provinces. The organising principles and mechanism of these cooperatives differ from area to area and depend on the industry or crop which forms the fulcrum of the cooperative. Homogeneity in this area would only result in the creation of round holes in which square pegs no longer fit.
