Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is kick the can down the road and its meaning is “to avoid dealing with a difficult situation or making a hard decision until later; delay, defer, put off, postpone”.
Example Sentence: As schools reopen, offering a few standardised “bridge” courses and “remedial classes” may seem like a facile antidote (easy remedy) to the months of lost formal learning. Resuming the teaching of “the syllabus” — even a watered down version — and pushing children through to the next grade means kicking the can down the road.
